Speaking at United Nations for World Down Syndrome Day #WDSD17

As I arrived into NYC, the excitement for tomorrow was building inside me. I was ACCEPTED to speak at the United Nations for the World Down Syndrome Day Conference.
I am so honored to be sharing about “Why Your Voice Matters”. Which is the theme of the conference: Theme: #MyVoiceMyCommunity – Enabling people with Down syndrome to speak up, be heard and influence government policy and action, to be fully included in the community.
Let me share a little video I did when I got to NYC.

Who would have thought that 11 years ago I would be on this amazing platform advocating not only for my son, but for all those individuals with Down Syndrome who want their voices heard.  Who want to be heard, seen and valued as a productive member of their community.
I am thankful that my husband and I have gotten involved with an amazing organization Lumind RDS who cares about the advancement in cognition research for individuals with Down Syndrome. Because #LumindrdsCARES (Cognition and Research Empower Success).
Tonight I get to go to a reception being held by the National Down Syndrome Society, to meet more wonderful advocates and families, who care so much about awareness for Down Syndrome.
Stay tuned to more coming from NYC and World Down Syndrome Conference and my #whirlwindweekofadvocacy.
