Embracing Happiness In The New Year

If you feel like you’re not living your full potential, it may be time to find more happiness in your life.  Being happier and more content with your life, leads to less stress and a more fulfilling life.  And what better time to find this than in the New Year? So I ask you are you ready to embrace happiness in the New Year?
Are you a morning person? Research shows that morning people are happier and even healthier. But even if you don’t love mornings, you can still develop a few simple habits that can help you enjoy a more balanced and happier day.
Most of our happiness can be traced to our daily habits, which start from the time we wake up.
Here are five key habits that will help you be happier, right from the start of your day.

  1. Speak with kindness to yourself

Instead of filling your mind with negative thoughts about what junk food you ate last night or how frustrated you are that your life isn’t going quite how you planned, simply celebrate where you are now with kind and empathetic thoughts.  Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how wonderful you truly are.

  1. Listen to your body

Listen to what your body is telling you; let it guide you. Some mornings you may feel like working out and drinking a protein shake.  Other mornings, the snooze button may be calling your name.  Don’t feel guilty about your choice; just trust that your body knows what it needs.

  1. Ask yourself a few key questions

Start your day with focus and it will help you be more productive throughout the day.  Take some time to think about what you need to get done.  Ask yourself, “How do I want to feel today?”, “What do I need to remember today?”, and “How will I get back in balance if I get off-track?”  Have a plan for what you want to do and how you will respond if something doesn’t go right.  This will allow you to quickly bounce back during the day.

  1. Keep your focus on what you want

Happy people focus on what they want instead of what they don’t want.  They do this by visualizing it in their mind every day then taking the necessary steps to achieve it. Instead of wasting your energy on what isn’t working or what you don’t want, commit to a better life by keeping your focus on what matters most to you.

  1. Leave yesterday behind

Most people start the day by running through a list of the mistakes or problems from yesterday. This will keep you from moving forward and enjoying a positive and productive day. Instead, try this . . . each night before bed, tell yourself, “I did the best I could today and that is enough. Tomorrow, I will do my best again.” When you wake up in the morning, you will feel a bit more balanced and you will be able to start fresh again.
